Dr. Scott Abrahamson

Dr. Scott Abrahamson is an authority on the booming area of disease prevention called “Wellness”. He provides insights into Health, Genetics, and Lifestyle.  As a practicing clinician, he sees patients every day who are needlessly suffering from preventable conditions.

Dr. Scott began college at South Lake Tahoe and then to the University of Colorado. He volunteered at the Denver General Hospital ER for a year to observe medicine in action. He went on to graduate from Western States Chiropractic College in 1987 and took time to travel to Australia and New Zealand, teaching a sports medicine clinic at the Phillips Institute of Technology in Melbourne. He returned to Portland and opened his private practice in 1988 presenting injury prevention programs for corporations including Federal Express, Chevron, and Grantree Furniture. He has also written and lectured to skin care products developers for CBI labs in Texas. He is a contributing author of the IBIS medical software computer program. He completed a three year postgraduate degree in Chiropractic Orthopedics and served a 3 year appointment to the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners Peer Review Committee.

From Dr. Scott:
“The long view of healthcare led me back to school to complete a Wellness Certification Program reviewing past and current research on why some people stay well when others get sick.
I have learned that we cannot focus on treating sick and injured people while becoming competent at helping people stay well.
We try. But we cannot.

As the poet said:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, road-less-traveled2
And sorry I could not travel both…
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
(From “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.)
